Eric Bogosian was invited to present his research on Soghomon Tehlirian in a lecture entitled “Searching for Tehlirian” organized by Hamazkayin Arts & Letters Series. Historically, Soghomon Tehlirian is known for assassinating Ottoman Grand Vizier Talaat Pasha, the main perpetrator of the Armenian Genocide, who fled Turkey in 1920. Because Eric Boghosian’s research of the story was purely biographical, we decided to interpolate his and Tehlirian’s images into one, creating the effect of one person.

RVVZ Foundation/Initiatives for the Development of Armenia (IDeA) is a charitable foundation that promotes the idea of social entrepreneurship in Armenia by investing in long-term non-commercial projects and helping them become self-sustainable. The foundation focuses on projects that have a tangible social and economic impact and allow the country to move from survival mode to a model of prosperity.
I was asked to design a proposal in two languages, both English and Armenian, for a tight deadline intended for government officials. I was able to quickly comprehend the content, conceptualized an approach that best communicated concepts quickly and simply, and produced a proposal book on-time and on-budget.
The Dilijan Nature Preserve and Discovery Center (DNPDC) will profitably create nature-based interactive learning experiences for local inhabitants of the city, national and international tourists, youth in nearby schools and nature enthusiasts. DNPDC will combine hiking trails, innovative designed lookout spots, state-of-the-art interactivity with the local ecology, educational programs, scalable and exportable interactive science exhibits, as well as guided nature trail excursions that combine technology and nature to provide an enriching, educational and impacting experience.
Our aim is to turn this park into a national jewel, re-introducing native plant and animal species that have gone extinct in the last 100 years. Rehabilitation and restoration of Dilijan forest would not only create jobs but it would also allow us to apply the knowledge and technique learned here to other forest in Armenia.

Singer, songwriter and musician, Raffi Joe, asked me to create a unique look for his album. Playing along the colorful hints of Frank Zappa and Primus, his album needed a colorful look and feel, while still giving credit to the intentional organization of the album.
I helped to add color, design and structure to a fantastic album.

I designed a wedding invitation reflecting the couples deep-founded connection with their heritage and culture. The peacock is a two-century old emblem printed in Jerusalem, and the poem is a 17th century poem about undying love written by Komitas, the founder of Armenian classical music. Each aspect of the invitation, down to the monogram in both English and Armenian, was a personal reflection of the two lovebirds’ connection.

I decided to participate in Toprak Petq Chi, a tote bag-giving organization to help stave plastic bag usage, because I believe in the cause and mission (and what it's sponsor, Awesome Foundation, does).
I was inspired to develop this exhibit concept on a trip to the caves of the Eastern Armenian city of Goris. I noticed how people did not have proper waste disposal and resorted to throwing garbage (mostly plastic bags) into the river! This was not the only instance. I’ve seen taxi drivers throw cigarette boxes on the grown, walking commuters tuck plastic bags into tree branches, soldiers throw beer bottles on a hiking trail in nature, and the list continues on to everyday citizens and their awareness at the cash register on how many bags are necessary/needed.
In seeing this, my own personal solution, was to buy in small amounts and use my backpack (which I always carry with me). Yet even this small commendable act was met with looks of embarrassment, shame and sometimes ridicule at the supermarket. To think, a conscious decision to prevent further litter and detriment to our environment was being laughed at in Armenian culture! How sad is that? It was only natural for me to participate Toprak Petq Che's local-action/global-thinking initiative as it was.
We need to awake ourselves and by action and example help others awaken. That is the simple truth. As a global society we’ve achieved almost instantaneous information sharing. Much of this information points to a need understood by many of our ancestral cultures; honoring and respecting nature; taking as much as you need and needing what you want; considering ourselves as connected and inter-connected with the whole of our local, regional and global societies. Yet, with global information sharing, there is also an inherent response in developing hyper-individualized culture of “me” or “I” that has removed the global sense of interconnectedness. I’d like to quote William McDonough from his 1993 lecture on design responsibility and ecological awareness titled, "Design, Ecology, Ethics and the Making of Things”:
"If we understand that design leads to the manifestation of human intention, and if what we make with our hand is to be sacred and honor the earth that gives us life, then the things we make must not only rise from the ground but return to it, soil to soil, water to water, so everything that is received from the earth can be freely given back with out causing harm to any living system. This is ecology. This is good design. It is of this we must now speak."

Each batch of Harvest Song award -winning preserves begins with the fertile ground of biblical Ararat Valley, famed as the landing site of Noah's ark. Harvest Song takes pride in being one of the few main preserve makers that use volcanic soil for their orchards.
We created a brochure design that not only showcased the mouthful of natural luxury that each jar of Harvest Song packs but also created a pairing system to showcase which cheeses best pair with each preserve. The result? Deliciousness.
